Professor Tommy D. Dickey

Prof. Tommy Dickey is the principle investigator of the Ocean Physics Laboratory at UCSB. He is a faculty member in the Departments of Geography and Mechanical and Environmental Engineering. Prof. Dickey's primary research interest is in interdisciplinary oceanography. His group specializes in the deployment of physical, chemical, biological, and optical instrumentation on autonomous platforms in shallow coastal and deep open-ocean settings. Prof. Dickey typically teaches Physical Oceanography and Marine Science Seminar, required courses for the Marine Science Interdisciplinary Graduate Program and Introduction to Oceans and Atmosphere, Geog. 3A. At UCSB, he has also taught courses in Geophysical Fluid Dynamics and Ocean Optics. As of winter quarter 2003, he is on sabbatical, writing a book on bio-optical oceanography.
