Jesusita Trail
Distance (R-T): 4.5 miles
Elevation gain: 1225 feet
Difficulty: Moderate
Jesusita trail follows a beautiful stream for just about the entire
way up the trail. There are a few creek crossings, but they are easy.
Oak trees line the stream and cool conglomerate rock
formations are exposed in some areas. The trail ends at the top of Inspiration
Point for a wonderful view of the city of Santa Barbara (if there is no fog). Views of
Cathedral and La Cumbre peaks and White Mountain and the Rock Garden can be seen too.
You can continue down to Tunnel Trail (if you park cars at both ends of the
trailheads and remember to bring the keys to the other car). We
typically turn around and come back the same way.
Driving directions (from the 101): Take the Los Positas exit and head
towards the mountains. Cross State Street and Foothill Road (also the 192). The road changes to
San Roque Road. Park in the lot or on the street near the Cater Filtration Plant.
